Sant Pere Pescador
Sant Pere Pescador is in the county of Alt Empordà, on the Costa Brava. Between the sea and the mountain, there is the plain, flanked by two rivers that flow into the Gulf of Roses: the Muga and the Fluvià.
The municipality of Sant Pere Pescador covers 18.40 km2, and has around 1,900 habitants. The coastal sector of beach and wetlands and the stretch of the River Fluvià, that crosses the area, form part of the Wetlands of the Empordà Natural Park (Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l’Empordà). It is the only place on the Costa Brava that has more than six kilometres of virgin beach dunes and fine sand.
The main communication routes are the AP-7 toll motorway and the A-2, A-26 and C-31 roads. The Barcelona-Portbou train line cuts across the county in a north-south direction with various stops. There are very good communication links with Spain and France, due to its good geographical location and through the airport at Girona.
The Empordan climate is humid Mediterranean, with moderate temperatures, relatively cold winters and hot summers. The average annual temperature is around 15 ºC.
Sant Pere Pescador offers visitors the possibility of doing all kinds of sports. At the beaches it’s possible to windsurf, sail and kayak. The large expanses of green areas and woods offer the possibility for hiking, riding and taking long bike rides.
